Kenya / Kii AA SL28,34,Batian,Ruiru11 Washed
A washed coffee from Rungeto, Kirinyaga, Kenya, processed at Kii Factory.
Bright and juicy, this cup has a vibrant yet refined acidity, characterised by fruity notes balanced by a clean, mineral finish.
This coffee boasts the classic Kenyan tomato notes, alongside juicy flavours reminiscent of plum and mandarin orange. As its smooth texture unfolds, the savoury sweetness of the fruit gradually spreads, revealing a subtle, umami depth.
As the temperature gradually cools, the finish evolves into a clean, lingering aftertaste reminiscent of lime and olives.
Among the 'warmth' Kenya series, this is a cup that offers a slightly different perspective. The charm of this lot lies in how its character changes depending on the brewing method, whether by immersion or percolation, allowing you to enjoy different facets of its flavour.
Origin
Kirinyaga is one of Kenya's leading production regions. The high altitude, fertile soil, and significant temperature variation between day and night produces the vivid flavours characteristic of Kenyan coffee.
Cherries harvested by small-scale farmers are brought to the factory, where the entire process, from sorting to fermentation, washing and drying, is strictly managed.
Kii Factory is renowned for utilising the region's cool climate and abundant water sources to produce clean, high-quality washed coffee.
Process
Fully ripe cherries are carefully sorted out, then pulped and fermented.
The cherries are then thoroughly washed in clear spring water before being slowly sun-dried on African beds. This meticulous washed process brings out the bright fruitiness and clean texture charactertistic of Kenyan coffees.
